Grants Given by Swift Eagle
In 2009 we gave grants to 58 individuals; their average residency was 16 years. With your donations, Swift Eagle was able to help them with rent and mortgage payments, utilities, car payments, car repairs, eye and dental problems. Since we are an all volunteer organization, almost 100% of what you give goes directly to those in need. Those whom your support has helped include:
Jane, a single young woman, teacher's assistant, 5 years in the valley, with a rare condition, TOS, that limits hand and arm movement, making it impossible to carry a gallon of milk, to pursue the physical activities she loves. Physical therapy has depleted her savings. Surgery and recovery will prevent her from immediately returning to work.
Bob, 29 years old, 8 years in the valley, divorced, given custody of his 2 year old daughter. His car and truck quit working and he has no transportation for work or for bringing his daughter to preschool.
Tom, 21 years in the valley, a self-employed father of 4, hardworking, active in the community. He's been battling thyroid cancer for three years. Like so many others, his family was reluctant to apply for help, feeling others needed it more than they. However, "due to self-employment, time away from work for treatments, and decreased income, we are finding we could greatly benefit from some assistance."
Grants Recieved by Swift Eagle
As a grass-roots foundation, Swift Eagle relies on individual contributions, fundraisers and grants for its financial budget. This year we received grants from the Steammaster Charity Golf Tournament fundraiser, the Eagle Valley Community Fund,Vail Valley Cares and United Way of Eagle County. Thank you so much to these organizations for their support!
